Love is a many splendored thing!

I have made some engagment celebration cupcakes for my friend begining of this month for celebrating her cousin's engagement.  She gave me ideas of what the couple love (such as OPI nail polish, XBOX, the nephew they baby-sit, the school the groom graudated from, etc.) and I created few more love inspired cupcakes just to tight the whole love and engagement theme together.  They came out so "LOVE-LY"!  My friend told me that her cousin was surprised by this "LOVE-LY" cupcakes.  I am glad to create this special "LOVE-LY" moment for them=)

I think cupcakes are the best way to celebrate all the occassions!

LOVE is a Four Letter Word

I am so excited that we finally got our tickets to see Jason Mraz's concert at the Hollywood Bowl this October.  Jason Mraz is one of my favorite musicians and have been longing to see his live performance for ages.  I am now listening to his songs every morning when I drive to work and every night when I go to bed, just to get familiar with all his songs, so I could enjoy even more at his concert.
From boring...

...to what not to LOVE
Yesterday, in order to show my love and support to Jason and his music, I crafted 4 fondant toppers inspired by Jason's new album, "Love is a Four Letter Word" to decorate some dull looking Oreo cookies.  This is a wonderful (and easy) way to show your beloved one how much you love, care and appreciate them or it will even make a great surprise proposal idea.  If you want to turn your Oreo cookies to be a cookies with mission or a special cookie with messenge for the one you love, but you have no time or no idea how to make it.  Contact us or check our C for Cupcake Cupckaery Etsy shop, we could HELP!

They are not ordinary cookies.
They are cookies with mission to show people LOVE.
It's very hard to pick only 10 favorite songs from Jason Mraz because a lot of them are really welly made.  Here is my TOP 10 list:

1.  Butterfly (my all time favorite, so sexy and mystery)
2.  Man Gave Names to all the Animals (it's a cute revision from the Bob Dylan's version)
3.  I'm Yours (what not to love?!)
4.  Lucky (Mr. G and I sing this song at karaoke all the time)
5.  Remedy (First song I knew from Jason Mraz)
6.  Curbside Prophet (Very refreshing new music)
7.  You and I Both (Sad love song)
8.  Did You Get My Message (Love the melody and lyrcis)
9.  Make It Mine (Meaning song)
10.  Please Don't Tell Her (another sad song from him)

What are your favorite songs from Jason Mraz?  Share with us=)

You are the icing on my cupcake!

May 26, 2009, a warm and sunny beautiful day after a Memorial Day weekend, Mr. G and I both took a day off after the long weekend. This day, we went to a very special place in Santa Ana - a place that is going to change our lives forever.

It was an exciting day to both of us; I got to admit that I even got butterflies in my stomach.  We got there around 11 in the morning; we got called not for so long and walked in to the office for signing some paper works. We then entered in to a peaceful and quiet room after signing the paper works.  A guy came in to the room and started talking.  I paid close attention to every single word he said; I closed my eyes and realized tears were forming in my eyes - There is no fancy flower arrangements, no beautiful and expensive grown, no six bride mates marching down the aisle with me, no 100+ guests cheering for us...the only one person I saw was the one holding my hands, who was also standing in front of me.  The peaceful and quiet environment made me hear and understand all the words clearly and dearly.

Guitar + Cupcake = Our Love Story (card made by me)
I was slowly but carefully following every words "the guy" said:  I, take you Mr. G, to be my husband, to have and to hold from this day forward, for better or for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish; from this day forward until death do us part. I looked into Chris’s eyes and noticed that tear drops were rolling down from his eyes too. Sooner than we realized, we were announced as Husband and Wife.

Dear Mr. G,

It's hard to believe three years have passed by ridiculously fast.  During these amazing three years, we got to know each other a little better each day; and we get used to each other's all the good and bad habbits.  We might be different in many ways, but we are like two pieces in a jigsaw puzzle because we fit together perfectly.  I just want to let you know how much I love you and will continue loving you till the day we leave the world.

You are the icing on my cupcake!  Without you, I will be one "naked" cupcake=)

DIY Picture Flower Pot

We had a great Mother's Day celebration with my husband's family the past weekend.  Besides my own mother and my grand mother (too bad these two very important women are not with me in the States this year), another very special woman I appreciate the most is my husband's mother.  My husband and I concluded - the best mother and mother-in-law we could ever ask for!  And how funny is that my husband was telling me when he was looking for a serious relationship; he always wanted to look for someone just like his mom.  And not for long he found me and my personality is just like his mom.

I always love to hand make something speical for the people I love and treasure the most for their special day.  Sure, we could always spent some money to buy a nice gift and a beautiful bouquet from the mall or at the store.  But in my stubborn mind, I truely want these people to know how important and special they are and how much I love them by making them something they won't see it at the store; and hopefully, they will remember the gift forever.

Last year, my mother-in-law left an old picture album on their dining table.  I causally flipped through it and found a lot of great and valuable pictures of my husband.  I snapped some pictures by using my iPhone and I knew that right away one of these days, these lovely pictures will become handy for me to make some great art works or crafts.  When Mother's Day was approaching, I was thinking to make my mother-in-law something nice to appreciate her love, care and support to my husband and I the entire time; what better than something she could eat, something she could laugh about and something she could add to her office desk?  So here the idea was arised - a pot full of memories and "Cupcake in a Tube"!

I editted the pictures to make them looked brigher and sharper before printing them out from a color printer.  Then I stick the paper on a thicker paper and cut them out.  Next, if you have some left over gift tags from Christmas, you could add them behind the pictures to make a little talking bubbles.  If not, you could always buy a paper puncher from any craft store and make your own talking bubbles.  If you don't like the talking bubbles idea, just simply leave the picture alone.  I added the bubbles because I wanted to add some humors (my husband and I are both very goofy and funny persons, and that is totally our style *laugh*).  Now they are ready to put on a lollipop stick (could be purchased from your local craft store).

Then, I went to the craft store to get a flower pot and some ribbons for decorating.  As soon as I saw this turquoise colored pot; I knew that I didn't need to look any further=p.  The turquoise color reminded me of my husband and my wedding ceremony (deep brown and turquoise were our themed colors).  I wanted to make my pot chic and still girly.  So I picked up a roll of skinny black with white polka dot ribbon and a turquoise colored ribbon to make my pot modern and chic=)  I also designed the "We L<3ve You" label by using a design program; and cut it with my cutting machine.  Now,  everything is ready, and I could use my glue gun to glue everything on the pot.

There are multi different ways to put in the pot for securing your "photo" flowers.  I have a great and inexpensive way to put your "photo" flowers/cake pops/cake in a tube, pretty much anything on a stick format - go to your local 99 cent store to get a pack of elbow macaroni and filled in the pot (cheap and easy!).  Of course, you could always buy a styrofoam and cut it to fit in the pot; however, I found my way to be faster, cheaper and easier=)

The day before heading to my in-laws' house, I made our new product - cake in a tube to put in the pot (cake is pound cake with strawberry and whipped cream in between)!  I decorated the plastic container with the ribbons I bought from the store to tight the pot and everything else together.  And I wanted to give my mother-in-law a little surprise when she eats the cake. I cut the strawberry into a heart shape and put on top of each "cake tube"<3.  This gift idea is not only good for mother's day.  You could use it for birthdays, anniversaries, Christmas, or any other special occassions you could think of.

Getting Ready for Cinco de Mayo!

Cinco de Mayo is right around the corner, are you ready to party?  I came across this very cute piƱata cookies' recipe on a website called, She knows Food and Recipes.  The recipe is great with step by step pictures and clear instruction.  If you want something different for your kids on this Cinco de Mayo, this will definitely surprise them with a pinata cookies filled with mini M&M inside=)

The cookies just like a real pinata (filled with candies)!

Cinco de Mayo is not just for kids, how about some taquila shoot for the grown-ups?

Need party ideas?  Taquila shoot and mini taco for the adults.

A Sweet Anniversary

A friend of mine and one of my loyal customers just celebrated she and her husband's 2-year wedding anniversary last week. I am so happy for them and I wanted to make something sweet for them to show that how much I care about her in person and her business to me.  She is such a freindly person and on top of it; she is very creative and organized too.  Becase of these gifts, she decided to open her own wedding planning business, On the Dot Event Planning. I am sure she could help the bride (and the groom) to take away a lot of stressful moments for preparing their perfect wedding.

I know she likes pink (that's the theme color at her wedding) and girly stuffs, so I designed and created a white cake pops and oreo cake pops dipped in pink candy melt (they are a heart shape cake pops) and dark chocolate as their anniversary gift.  Want to see how they celebrated their anniversary, please check out her blog, here.

Note:  If you are interested in ordering cake pops, please contact me for inforamtion=)

Happy Birthday, Kayson!

Over the weekend, I made some cupcake pops for my best friend, Ashley's son. I planned to make him little something for his birthday for a while.  I know he likes candies and everything sweet. Ashley told me that every time he went to Starbucks with her, he was telling her how much he wanted the cake pop from the Starbucks.  Based on these two clues, cupcake pops and a jar fulled of Easter's M&Ms will make his birthday even sweeter.

I am glad to see his smil-y face when he received the gift. Even better, I got to see him ate them and enjoyed them; that's priceless.  He is one of the coolest kids I ever met.  He is so beautiful inside and out, I wish he would never change.  Happy birthday to you again, Kayson; Carmen and Chris (he kept asking me where my "boyfriend" [aka my husband] is) love you!

PS.  If you want to send something sweet and special to someone you love, contact us today.  We could craft and design some beautiful cupcake pops or cake pops/balls for you and the one you love=)

Cupcakes Take The Cake

5 Reasons Why I love cupcakes?

1) They are so cute and adorable, and they remind me of my sweet childhood=)
2) They are cheaper than buying a whole big cake.
3) They are small gifts of indulgence, so I feel less guilty after eating it, compared to having a slice of cake.
4) They are a convenient dessert to eat because they come in single serve proportions. No serving  utensils required.
5) They come in many flavors; however, you do not have to commit to one.

These 5 prime reasons inspired me to start my cupcake couture and catering business to spread my love of cupcakes to others. There are thousand people out there also love cupcakes; however, there is one group of people have been loving cupcakes so much that they even created a website to dedicate to CUPCAKES!

Cupcakes Take The Cake  was started in December of 2004. Three cupcakes lovers,  Rachel Kramer Bussel (the author and editor), Nichelle Stephens (the blogger and social media manager), and Stacie Joy (the photographer and editor) were inspired by the opening of New York City bakery Sugar Sweet Sunshine and the release of Clare Crespo’s book Hey There, Cupcake!,as well as the success of their friends who run the pizza blog Slice. All these inspired them to create a cupcake official website for cupcakes!

Who would have thought about a cupcake website could attract so many attentions, including MSNBC and Food Network.  This website is a bible for all cupcake lovers and someone loves sweet.  They include almost everything you need to know or want to know about cupcakes.  From cupcake reviews to cupcake recipes to interview of different bakeries around the whole world.  This is one of the most additive websites for browsing around.  And no doubt that this is the most developed and organized website about everything you need to know about cupcakes.

I am so honor to be featured on Cupcakes Take The Cake twice!  Our Lady Gaga's cupcakes were featured on this website back to September 2011.  And the triathlon inspired cupcakes (specially made for the Cupcake Activist) were featured on their website again this month.  And I am very happy that they love our creativity and works.

Just because...

I made some cupcakes, which inspired by the Beatles' popular love songs "All You Need is Love" and "I Want to Hold Your Hand" for my customer.  Her husband loves the Beatles and she saw the Beatles cupcake toppers I made last year; she immediately fell in love with it.  She once told me she will for sure come to me and order some from me.  She came to me last week and ordered some Beatles to surprise her husband.  She wanted the 4 members of the Beatles and the remaining two cupcakes, she left room for me to put on my own designs.  I figured since she ordered the cupcakes for her love, I made the remaining two with a love message on it. Sometimes we don't need a reason to send something sweet to the one you love, some "just because..." cupcakes are the best!
